Welcome to our school
Spalding is a small rural town in the mid-north of South Australia, 178 km north of Adelaide, and is situated at the centre of a network of creeks and rivers which meet to form the Broughton River. Spalding Primary School is located in a well-kept and delightful setting with an abundance of trees, lawned play areas, a Covered Outdoor Learning Area and a shaded playground.
The core values of the school are Respect, Safety and Excellence which form the pillars of all our educational aims. Our values are part of our everyday language expectations, and all children know and understand what they mean.
Our school current has 2 classes: an R-2 Junior Primary Class and 3-6 Upper Primary Class. Small numbers of students mean that every child has quality time with their class teacher and a support staff member. All teachers know the children very well and have great relationships with families – which is essential for successful education.
An onsite Playcentre provides two sessions a week for children from birth to 5 years. These sessions are provided by an Early Childhood Worker and are fun and engaging for children and families.
Spalding Primary School follows the Berry Street Education Model where we recognise strength based, positive education best practices support our staff and student’s wellbeing and are committed to the implementation of consistent predictable routines with consistent predictable adults.
Our students have the opportunity to participate in a range of events such as the annual Billy Cart Race, participation in the Science Investigation Awards, SAPSASA sports, kitchen garden and cooking, Walk and Ride to School Days, National Young Leaders Day and many other extra-curricular activities.
Student voice is active at Spalding Primary School through participation in regular SRC meetings. Elections for office bearers are held in Term 1 of each year and the students run each meeting.
Above all we value positive, open and honest relationships between school and home. We encourage families to take advantage of opportunities to be involved in the school’s activities.
